Newsweek ranks St. Mary Medical Center and Powers Health Rehabilitation Center among best
Newsweek has ranked St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart and the Powers Health Rehabilitation Center in Crown Point as among the best in the country.
The Powers Health hospitals earned spots on Newsweek’s America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers 2026 list. Newsweek and Statista come out with the annual ranking of leading inpatient rehabilitation facilities across the country.
How the rankings were determined
It looked at 330 facilities nationwide based on clinical quality, professional reputation, quality designations and patient experience, looking at how they helped patients regain strength, mobility, independence and quality of life.
Powers Health Rehabilitation Center ranked second statewide. St. Mary Medical Center placed third in Indiana. Both help patients recovering from illness, injury, surgery and other conditions.
Local leaders celebrate the honor

The rankings were based on metrics like patient experience and surveys of healthcare professionals.
